Let them eat cake!

Part IV: The Cake! (if you're not using the...well I'm not sure what accent but of the wedding planner Franc from "Father of the Bride" you should be)
Of course this classy couple would never smash cake on each other's faces. I'm sorry if you did that and you're reading this but I read somewhere (or heard from someone random, you know) that if you smash cake on your face it leads to divorce. (DUM DUM DUM)

The Decor

I got this picture from their first wedding blown up for the guest book.

Playing with Marco's macro lens....and now I want one.

Part III all about the details!

The Food

Part II of the renewing of the vows blog-spectacular! Obviously my parents were the center of attention but the meal came in a close second! After Thanksgiving we didn't want anything too heavy and I think we achieved a really nice dinner. (super modest, right?)
The wedding cake!

Robin made all of the cupcakes! They were delicious and beautiful.

YUMMY salad made my Ms. Alicia

Champagne punch! Later I heard from many people that they didn't realize this was "adult" punch. Whoops, sorry! No, not really.

I thought the meal was pretty amazing if I don't say so myself. Everything was made by someone who loves my parents and it was so special to have so many people to be involved!

The Flowers

I feel like the pictures can't do it justice. Seriously, the flowers were so pretty and in my humble (correct) opinion, totally perfect.

Mom's bouquet...that we forgot to use. Still beautiful.

Ms. Alicia made ALL of the flower arrangements! They were beautiful.

They did the ceremony here. It looked so beautiful and the weather was PERFECT. All week the weather boys on the news kept predicting rain but the man upstairs gave us a warm, amazing night.

More to come! For Natalie's News this has been, Natalie-Corinne.

Big Day!

Today's the big day! My parents are renewing their vows at our house tonight and every inch is covered with preparation of this huge event. We are so excited and thrilled to be hosting. So many people have helped do so much and family will be here from all over! We can't wait.

Congrats Mom and Dad :)

My parents are so beautiful, like a fine wine, they have only improved with age. (And thank God lost that mustache!)

Thanksgiving

I've been looking all around and I've found the average calories from Thanksgiving ranges from 2,000-4,000.

My survival guide.
I will not eat dessert on Thanksgiving.
I will only eat a bite of dessert on Thanksgiving.
I will not eat more than one dessert on Thanksgiving.
(or maybe just bites of all of them... small bites)
I will not eat any bread on Thanksgiving.
I will not eat too much bread on Thanksgiving.
(What exactly is too much? You just know. )
I will only eat one type of potato.
(again, I will just take small bites of all of them... small bites and I will chew all of them well to burn extra calories)
I will not drink on Thanksgiving.
(Are we all okay? I was afraid lighting would have struck someone by now. That's obvi a lie)
I will work out while watching the parade.
(this I better stick to)
I will enjoy myself and enjoy being with the most wonderful family.
(PERFECTION)

Grab your sweat pants and gifts of gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for.

What I'm Thankful For

A different type of list.

Preparing for this weekend I have made approximately 8,000 lists. I guess it is time to make the cheesy what am I thankful for list.

1. A really loving and generous husband.
2. My beautiful Mom who is a constant role model and the funnest best friend.
3. A Dad who do all things humanly possible for his family.
4. A brother who is almost grown up and brings a smile to every one's face.
5. My husband's family who is supportive, loving, and kind...and thank God is nothing like the stereotypical "in-laws" you see on tv!
6. A job I actually don't dread going to. I would almost say I love it but I'm afraid I'll jinx it in some weird way.
7. Our new home.
8. Extended family who feel close even though we are all spread out across the country.
9. Fantastic friends who we love just like family.
10. Laughing way more than crying.

"A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all other virtues."

Happy Thanksgiving!

Winning Wordless Wednesday

Okay, I'm crying uncle. So not really wordless Wednesday. How about a lame joke Wednesday?

What do cancer and state have in common?

They may beat us around this year but they'll never win the war.

(plus State folks will still be forced to wear camo wedding dresses)

So, I typed above camo wedding dress comment and then thought oh surely nothing like this actually exists but google image never disappoints and there were actually a plethora of State camo dress tragiedies to choose from.

Hate State and Cancer!

if you give a mouse a cookie

Some people are really great in a crisis. It seems like some folks just know exactly what to do when something goes awry. Someone has a seizure? Certain privileged people jump into response situations as if they were given a magical gift from God to know precisely what to do. Ladies and gentlemen, I am not one of those people. In very rare situations, I will rise to the occasion and know how to direct a group of rowdy students, sing a difficult aria without showing that I am literally seconds away from peeing, but when something is really...like really serious..you best find someone else.

First sign that I would never be a "first responder" type was in high school when a girl had a seizure beside me in choir and I literally just stood there and...kept standing. A girl had to leap over me to help the victim. The same incident happened in college when a girl exiting the performance auditorium had a seizure and hit her head on a trashcan and then the floor. I froze. I heard someone yell, "we need to call 9-1-1" and I had some ability after what seemed like hours to attempt to hand someone my phone. The actual task of dialing those numbers myself way way too difficult.
Omg finding pictures for this blog made my night. Apparently confused woman in google search = Mom jeans.
Lastly and probably most embarrassing (which begs to wonder, why I would share this online for all 6 of you to read) was a few years ago in the Dillard's bathroom. I was Christmas shopping with my Mom and can even remember what I was wearing. I had been working out quite a lot then and was wearing cute jeans from Wet Seal with sequined designs on the backside and a very vintage orange jacket from American Eagle. Anyway, we were in the bathroom and I was looking at my...butt. I'll admit it. I also looked at my face, put on more makeup, played with my hair, etc while I waited on my Mom. As soon as my Mom walked out she ran, no sprinted to this woman sitting in a chair in the "lounge" (I love that Dillard's is that fancy) half way falling over. The poor soul just had a heart attack...and I never. noticed. My Mom noticed right away and went to aid this poor lady. She knew exactly what to do.
Another priceless google find. Were you even aware that heart attacks had clip art? Much less clip art with one-eyed monsters? Success.
Flash forward a couple of years and we are now home owners. I wanted some decaf coffee, I went to the pantry to get the decaf coffee. That's when I saw it. I came eye to eye with a MOUSE. A flipping field mouse. I screamed bloody murder and then this heroic dance/run/panic/jumping frantically move all around our house. P said it sounded like "a puppy  being murdered". When P investigated we (ha, he, obviously) found a hole in a pipe where the sucker got in. He found some traps (we have those?!) and took care of everything while I threw away all of our food and then slammed the door and hid in another room while begging P for a week in a hotel just to make sure. He seemed to think my request was a little ridiculous (cautious, hello? anyone?) and assures me everything will be fine tomorrow. He is somehow fixing the pipe and has acquired more traps than should be legal.
Moral of this story? If we are ever going any location where anything at all dangerous ranging from a hangnail to a Sybil-like meltdown, we best have a third party or cell phone coverage because I unfortunately am not your girl. I really hate admitting that I am not good under pressure, I feel like it's a quality that I should obtain alas, this is not my gift.
