Hotty Toddy!

We won our season opener this Thursday. I'll admit it wasn't pretty but it was a win and I'll take those any possible way I can get it :) 

I know everyone is all a fuss about the new recruiting class, new-ish coach, yadda yadda but I think the most obvious change is the new addition of the cutest rebel.

Special thanks to Whitney for giving him his first official Ole Miss attire. He is finally able to wear it and I can't believe he is really this big. How can it be?! I know I'm bias but he is obviously the reason we are expected to have a winning season. Can't imagine a better night, a win from my rebs and my boy never looking cuter. Lucky lady!

Freshman class of 2031

Not that I want to acknowledge that this day will ever happen...but when it does it will be nice to have 2 rebels in the family. Perhaps he will be the next Eli. Perhaps he will perform at the Ford Center. Perhaps he will be in the Croft Institute....while I do not want to force him to do anything he doesn't want to do, what's wrong with dreaming about the possibility that he will fall in love with the most beautiful place on earth? It could happen!  

This outfit was supposed to be for football season but since this guy is on the bigger size, he fit into to it a little early! Never too soon for our rebels :) 

I bought these pacifiers when I was in Ole Miss for choir alumni weekend in October. I was almost 6 months pregnant then. Seems like an entire life ago. 

Claire bought Austin this Ole Miss sock puppet. It flies. Currently, it's his only college toy.. and it shall stay that way.

What a good year to be a rebel. It's not an easy job being a rebel fan. Every great once in a while you have an Eli...and then...you don't. 

 I'm sure we all remember many seasons of football when we lost to Louisiana-Monroe.. and then there was that stretch with Coach O when we didn't win an SEC game in at least 2 seasons. Those were tough times. 

Last year was a vast improvement and we even made it to a bowl game. But now it looks like the Rebels are in for even a bigger year, and not just in football. With an amazing recruiting class that includes none other than the number 1 Robert Nkemdiche of GEORGIA (Thank you Siebert for the help! I am your sister...) I'm expecting a lot of fun grove moments this year that actually have something to do with football. 

Not only is football on the rise, our basketball team won our first game in the NCAA tournament. During my entire tenure at Ole Miss, we only made the NIT tournament so this is super exciting. 

It definitely wasn't the prettiest game and I was super behind on it because someone would not nap. This child has got to understand his Ole Miss priorities! 

Add a scrappy kid that taunts pretty much everyone, has one of the worst haircuts ever, throws up a land sharks kind of constantly, oh and is pretty amazing, and has brought more excitement to our team since... well ever, you've got some much deserved glory moments for our rebels. 

One of my favorite sayings ever is "we may not win every game but we've never lost a party" which my God is true, but hey... we can win every once in a while, and you know what? It feels pretty. damn. good!

Oxford reunion

I've totally fallen off the blog bandwagon. I've been legitimately busy, but I can't get over the very severe lack of blogging. Earlier in the month, I went to Oxford and reunited with all my favorite choir kids. The choir alumni are invited back every homecoming to sing the anthem on the field and it is always so fun. Last year I was unable to make it and I was so excited to hang in my favorite town with my favorite people. Friday I left work and got to Oxford around 7. We went to Philip's grocery and I had so much fun catching up and being around people who find it normal to sing loudly in restaurants.

Thomas and I go back.. I mean way back. He used to come to the AOII house so much that Mama Reid thought he was my brother. 

The game was really fun and WE WON!!!! Rebel fans have the most character out of any  SEC team...well in any conference. We have had so many losing seasons that we have the mantra "we may not win every game but we've never lost a party"...well being preggers definitely changes things. Winning, the grove, seeing friends, singing with DT were all truly amazing, but...being completely sober in the grove/game/square was quite a different experience.

After a really long day of the grove, game, square, etc. we went back to Ann Marie's house and had so much fun. Well, not the kind of fun that most people would expect, but this felt like old times, only thing lacking was a theme and costumes.

I loved being in Oxford and hope I can go back in December to see all the lights and magic of Christmas!

Hotty Toddy and happy Sunday! Although I wasn't in the grove this weekend, I am so proud that Ole Miss won our season opener. I know it was only Central Arkansas, but we've had enough character building seasons where we've lost our first game, so this feels nice!

The grove really is a beautiful slice of Heaven and I can't wait to get back!

It's that time in our lives where everyone in their mother is having the babes. My sorority sister Aimee just had her second baby, Abby. Since they live in Houston I have not been able to meet the newest rebel but I know these will bring a little bit of Mississippi to the lone star state. The talented Jenna Abington created all of these and I think they turned out SO cute :) I can't wait for Abby to rock these during our winning (dear God, it's been a hard couple of seasons..helps the rebels out) season of 2012!

the most wonderful time...

Besides the amazing parties, too much food, spending time with family family, 2 weeks off from work, during breaks I get the pleasure of seeing long, lost friends. This last Monday, I was pleased to see one of my besties in Nashville with other great friends John and Ryan.

P and I met Kelly, John and Ryan for dinner on West End. Kelly is finishing his last semester of his PHD! I cannot believe Ms. Kelly will soon be Dr. Burns! Whoa! Seems like yesterday we were running around Elma Meek Hall.

The newlyweds still have the wedding glow!

Great friends and fun right in my town...I wish this wasn't such a rare occurrence with Ms. Kelly. Let's all look for jobs so he can be a permanent resident of this wonderful city!

Today I am thankful that I did not go to to Mississippi State.

In fact there can be too much cowbell.

One might think my title refers to my favorite disaster of 2011, Charlie Sheen, I'm talking about a title wave of crazy known as LSU. While I realize most people in Rebel nation and the rest of the SEC can rarely agree on anything, one thing we all seem to rally together on is our deep hatred for LSU.

How you could support a team that smells like a rancid combination of hot dogs, skunk beer, and bad decisions is beyond me.

Ole Miss and LSU have a huge rivalry, although we pretty much always lose. The Magnolia bowl is always eventful no matter the outcome and the grove transforms from a classy place complete with candelabras and mimosas to countless grown men dressed in tacky pimp suits and little corn dog smelly children running up to and screaming "go to hell" with their parent's approval.

A few glorious times in my lifetime as a rebel fan we have beat LSU and I swear I tasted a bit of Heaven. This year seems grim, however I'll hold out hope for an early Christmas miracle.



For old times sake, let's do one of my favorite cheers...
