Duck Dynasty

Philip has forced me to watch this insane show where hideous haircuts and facial hair are glorified, teeth are optional and a cut off sleeveless, camo shirt for men are standard uniforms. I have to believe this show is from somewhere deep down in some secluded crazy country that has never seen modern appliances like razors, grocery stores and public schools. But no, I'm wrong. This is America.

Seriously? Why do they have to look like this? I can respect someone with a religious reason to dress in any particular fashion, yet these folks look insane for no particular reason.

Although this show makes me scared for the future of America, I have to admit...the insane folks are hilarious. I can't decide whether to cry or laugh when I watch it.

Here are some jewels that I caught tonight. And please remember to say all of these with a wad of tobacco.

"Pretty tires are for sissy rednecks" Si (the uncle and perhaps most insane)

this is Si. Although I've only seen one show, he had that "touched" look in his eyes.
"First it's the pretty tires then it's pretty guns, next thing you know you're shaving your beard and wearing capri pants" Si

"When the stock market falls, the man who survives is the one with the most tires" Jase

"Women are like ducks, neither like mud on their butts" the Dad.

I seriously do not have the vocabulary to discuss this any further. Such an insane show. I still haven't decided whether to be impressed with the creators or frustrated that the reality television craze has really reached this far.

Only time will tell.

jumping on the Downton bandwagon

Recently P and I have jumped on the Downton Abbey bandwagon.
The hype has been out of control so we decided watching it. At first I thought it was good but..not that good. But something about it makes you want to keep watching.

Maybe it's all the jealousy, backstabbing, secret romances, and class warfare that does it for me.
No, that can't be it. Hello? This show comes on PBS and I've heard stories on NPR about it. This show is the intellectual drama. You have to have some understanding of history to catch references and appreciate it's subtleties....or that's what I'll keep telling my pompous self...Fine, I'll admit it...    Downton is basically a glorified soap opera. It makes me feel intelligent because of the British accents, gorgeous early 1900s fashion, and awkward silences that only the Brits can pull off but at the end of the day it's the same old he said/she said drama that I can't get enough of.

When Mad Men was all the rage the fashion was all about 1950's. I'm wondering if these looks will begin making a come back.

I LOVE the drama of this look...but can't see myself teaching in this...We shall see.

a last minute Christmas request

There are a couple of amazing things happening in the above text. First my sweet Dad texts me for an amazing blog idea that sparked a huge laughter in my busy and kind of lackluster night.

Second, my Dad signs his text like a letter.

Third. ummm did you read it? Pajama jeans.

Never heard of them?

Watch this video and then thank me.

Pajama jeans is the fancy woman's sweatpants. While the rest of  the sloppy and lazy ladies of America (and the rest of the pants wearing world) go for the paint stained handy downs, this sophisticated group likes the comfort of sloppy paired with the sophistication of box wine. They say I really don't want to be bothered with the massive task of dragging my zipper all the way up so I'll just wear these pants. Like a Monet (Clueless, duh!) these fashion sins will be acceptable from far way but a hot mess up close.
But perhaps I judge too harshly. The lady above wears pajama jeans and the free tshirt and runs her own successful business from home. She is happy and has Pantene-esque hair. Pajama jeans.

And although pajama jeans eliminate that feeling of your pants getting too tight when you've put on a few or eaten too much magically, it will give you a flat stomach.
And better yet! A firm and lifted booty! What's not to love?
As fate would have it pajama jeans came up tonight at dinner. After working for 13 hours (musical auditions...omg so hard, so can't everyone have a role? K, thanks) I raced to meet P and his family for dinner and what would you know? His (pretty) mother bought some from Walgreens and says you really can't tell the difference. She says she will wear them soon and not tell us and we will have to guess.

The suspense is killing me!!!
So.. as the title displays...if anyone is looking for a last minute Christmas idea...

Welcome back....

My friends are back...

Thank God my favorite television family is back.  I feel like my long lost friends were lost at sea and now they've finally been found. So many things have changed...Lillie grew 3 years in a summer, Luke is no longer a little boy, and Dylan is staying on the ranch? All I know is that he better make some sort of appearance singing another ridiculous song. asap.
Then, The Office. I was so afraid of what would happen when Michael was gone and all the drama of last season. Omg, what has happened?! Two folks are preggers, Andy is the boss?
Still not sure what I think but thank God they're all back.

The verdict is still out on Whitney
I thought it would be funny but it has a laugh track and even says, "this episode was filmed in front of a live studio audience" a la Crosby show. I realize Will and Grace was also filmed in front of a live studio audience but their audience seemed a bit more realistic in their laughing. Whitney's audience was awkward and I couldn't get past it.

All I know is that I'm glad that my regular "friends" (that is sick, right?) are back. I mean, reality and bravo are AMAZING but sometimes it is nice to watch scripted television and pretend your life and friends are that witty. Obvi.
