7 months

Yesterday our sweet boy turned 7 months old! I cannot get over it. He is such a wonderful joy to our life :) I joke that he had to remind me of the intensity of labor because he wasn't really the happiest boy. He tried to be. He smiled, we went swimming but behind all of it were those pesky teeth trying to come in! ugh, I'm so over teething but the top 4 have broken through so many we will have a little break for a while.

First big boy swim :)

Today we went over to some of Philip's family friend's house. They have an amazing pool and are out of town for Labor Day and told us to use their pool as much as we wanted... umm OKAY. Although I didn't love the idea of being in a bathing suit (something has to change... it's almost been 7 months now and I've still got 9 lbs to go. ugh) but I sucked it up (figuratively and literally by sucking in my stomach until I could barely breathe) and we had such a great time. We've only done the kiddie pool 2 other times and I didn't really know if Austin would like the pool since I thought it would be colder than his bath. But since it has been like ridiculously hot, the water was like bath water temp and he really enjoyed it. 

Grandma joined too!

I am super stressed about the sun. He is wearing a bathing suit and shirt from his Aunt Ashley that has spf in it and she bought him a matching hat but since his melon is so big he had to wear this hat that I bought him that's a bit bigger. It's all those smarts! He's also wearing ridiculously expensive baby spf. For Philip and myself I will buy us generic goop that has the consistency of lard but for this babe, he gets gold. 

Philip bought this float a few weeks ago. It has a shade on it so it made me feel better about the sun. I think my Mom being so worried about my fair skin really "influenced" me. 

He used to wear these glasses but not he sees them only as another teething toy. 

Overall, a very fun day and we plan to go again tomorrow while our friends are away and we can pretend we are on vacation at their house :)

Hotty Toddy!

We won our season opener this Thursday. I'll admit it wasn't pretty but it was a win and I'll take those any possible way I can get it :) 

I know everyone is all a fuss about the new recruiting class, new-ish coach, yadda yadda but I think the most obvious change is the new addition of the cutest rebel.

Special thanks to Whitney for giving him his first official Ole Miss attire. He is finally able to wear it and I can't believe he is really this big. How can it be?! I know I'm bias but he is obviously the reason we are expected to have a winning season. Can't imagine a better night, a win from my rebs and my boy never looking cuter. Lucky lady!

things that make you feel old

Maybe it's just a rite of passage after becoming a Mom, or maybe it's that I'm surrounded by teenagers constantly but lately I've started to feel incredibly old. Why you ask? Let me break it down in no particular order. 

1. Jenna text me Sunday night with all the rage about Miley's scandalous performance at the VMA's. What? I didn't even know MTV was still a channel and most importantly I had no idea what that channel was.

2. My students say words daily that I don't get. Finally one day I said, "okay, what does all this mean?" and they had a field day telling me everything. One of my hilarious students even created a list that I could study.

3. Again, a situation dealing with one of my lovelies. I was talking about "Die Fledermaus" in my music history class and chamber maids came up. I told them what they were and then being the awesome teacher I am attempted to "make a connection to their life". I asked the class, "who watches Downton Abbey?" I got blank stares from all of them and finally a boy yells out, "I think my grandparents watch that". Awesome kid, let me know when me and granny can hang.

4.  The last few mornings I've been having this dream when my alarm clock goes off. Someone tells me I have to go back to sleep or Austin will wake up so I obviously do. I've hit snooze twice before I realize this is a dream and when I finally get up it is still well before 5 AM.

5. Friday night I legitimately fantasized about going to bed at 9.

AGH... what do I do? I get that I've had a kid now and I'm supposed to adopt Mom jeans and a minivan but I feel like this is all happening way too fast. I'm not 100. Someone send help before I end up at bingo and 4PM dinner.

6 months

So this is a half a month late...

The six month mark was met with some drama. Austin got his first cold and this Mom was reminded of what it was like to not. sleep. ever. I slept 2 nights in the floor helping Austin every 30-45 minutes because the poor guy was too stuffed up to sleep. 

Finally the little boy started to feel a tad bit better the day I had to go back to work. 

Rad ending to summer.

So anyway, these pictures were late and I'm posting them even later. 

He weighed 17.7 lbs and was 27.5 inches. He loves to laugh, read books, go on walks, listen to singing and other music, look at other kids, and hang out with Mom and Dad. He is eating sweet potatoes, carrots, peaches, pears, and oatmeal. I've been making his food on the weekends and he's liked all of it except avocado, so I've given up on it. He is so close to crawling. I'm terrified I'll miss his first time at work so I was willing him to do it this weekend but no dice. Hopefully he will hold out until next Saturday. 

He's been so happy and fun lately. I love seeing this sweet smile. He usually doesn't get up before I leave so that's been very hard not getting to see him before I go to work, but at least he's generally happy when I get home. 

4 teeth now! 2 more are trying to come in on top.

He's really started loving "flying", he gets the biggest grin. I can remember Mom and Dad doing this to Ben.

Love this boy. CANNOT believe it has been half a year! How is that possible?!?!?

some raves

1. I LOVE MY JOB I LOVE MY JOB I LOVE MY JOB I LOVE MY JOB. Well I should clarify to be all p.c. and stuff. I LOVE MY JOB OUTSIDE THE HOME I LOVE MY JOB OUTSIDE THE HOME I LOVE MY JOB OUTSIDE THE HOME. 

2. Social media is silly. I need to calm down and look at something ridiculous George Takei posted. Then look at all the other Episcopalians that also posted it. 

3. My little one is staying with grandma and then another Mom is coming to our house 2x a week. We are so, so lucky! 

4. Brunch can be overrated. 

5. No it cannot. That is not true. No way to make that positive. Should have brunched more. Good Lord, I just love a runny egg.

6. I am getting a running stroller. It will be awesome and I will complete iron man competitions with said stroller and baby and end up on a fitness magazine. 

omg look at me. Totes fit, another kid, darker hair and a weird stroller. The future is awesome.

7. Or maybe I will be able to run a couple of miles again.

8. The weather has been so amaze.

9. I love my baby! I don't care how annoying I sound. Maybe a little bit I care. 

10. I will get all my other summer goals done tomorrow. I am going to enjoy my last 3 days of summer!!! YOLO.
